Thanks so much for your interest in a High School Story session! So, what is a "High School Story Session", and how is it different from a typical senior session you'd receive at a portrait studio?
I'm a storyteller and documentary photographer, so while I will be taking some beautiful & relaxed posed portraits for you, the yearbook, and grandma's wall... I also love to document what is real, and what matters to you now. When you look back 20 years from now on your high school years, what will you remember most? THAT is what we need to capture! (Your future self said so!)
Here are just a few ideas we could include in your session:
- Having a bonfire with your friends
- A trip with your bestie to the mall
- Hangin' with squad at the beach
- Hiking through the woods with your dog
- Goin' muddin'
- Working on your car
- Drawing...or however you express yourself with your art
- Playing Xbox
- Playing music with your band
This is a celebration of your senior year after all. I'd love to include some photos that will really mean something to you one day. Your session includes up to 3 hours. We can divide that time to switch between activities, or even hairstyles for your posed portraits.
Here's how we rock your senior session:
You contact me and let me know that you'd like to book a session. I send you a link to my High School Story Session Guide with more info and pricing on some of the products I offer. We select a date, and I email you a link to my Eco-friendly portrait agreement & model release. You (or your parent if you're not 18 yet) can read & sign it electronically, and pay your session retainer all online.
Once you've signed and paid, I send you a link to a questionnaire. Take your time with this...your answers help me get to know you, and find out what's important to capture. The more details, the better!
We email or text each other to discuss ideas, clothing, location(s), and decide on the best time and place for me to arrive.
I arrive at your home, or on location and we have FUN!! No seriously, the only thing you need to worry about is having fun and being yourself. I will guide you to easy & natural poses for the portrait portion of your session, but not until you're comfortable, and I will help you every step of the way. For the Documentary portion of the session, just ignore me and go about your business as usual!
I choose the very best 30-40 images from your session, and hand edit each and every one to make sure they look their best. I spend a good amount of time on each individual posed portrait to soften skin, brighten eyes, whiten teeth if needed, remove acne, color tone, etc. If extensive retouching is needed (glare from eyeglasses, severe acne removal, removal of braces, etc) this is available for an extra fee per image.
About 3-4 weeks after your session, I'll email you a link to your password protected online proofing gallery where you can view your photos, select which one you'd like to use for your yearbook photo (I'll email it in for you), and you'll also be able to purchase professional quality prints and products if you'd like. Your proofing gallery will be active for 1 week, and can be shared with family & friends. I am always available to help you plan wall art, or answer any questions that you may have. *No purchase required however! I don't want you to have to stress about which images you can afford, and which ones you'll have to live without. I want you to have them all! That is why you'll be able to download all of the high definition digital images (30-40) and a print release, so that you can print whatever you'd like with an online lab, today...or 10 years from now! (I recommend mpix.com for the best quality outside of my professional lab). ;)
